Chinese New Year Art Projects and Art Display in the Lagunitas School District Office

The week after our mid-year break opened during Chinese New Year 2015, the Year of the Ram. During the warm break the plum blossoms around Marin County opened up in full force with their pink and white flowers and fragrant scents. In honor of the Chinese New Year and following the Japanese and Chinese tradition of painting plum blossoms, the children had fun learning how to paint with sumi brushes, black ink and colorful paints on long banner-shaped paper. They painted plum blossoms, bamboo stalks and learned how to write their names and good luck symbols in Chinese. Their art work will be displayed in the hallway above the computers in the Open Classroom during the month of March.

The March winds are blowing in the afternoons, inspiring the kids to make kites to fly in the playground during outside play time.
